Data Management and Communication (DMAC)
The CeNCOOS Data Management and Communications (DMAC) component is under development, but will soon be finalized and made available on this page.
Below is an outline of plans for the CeNCOOS DMAC:
CeNCOOS DMAC Concepts
Organized around a hierarchy of Data Assembly Centers (DACs)
–SAIC will implement the Regional DAC (RDAC)
•National Compliance
•One-stop shopping
–Start with four DACs (all have agreed to implement)
•Surface Currents (HFDAC)
•Pier Stations (water quality, HABs) (PSDAC)
•Satellite and other data (ERDDAP)
•Ocean Buoys (MBARI SSDS)
–Other Future (agreements still in progress)
•(TOPP, PISCO, CDIP, CDEN, HABDAC)
CeNCOOS DMAC Standards Compliance
–NETCDF Format
–Unidata Units
–MMI metadata compliant
–Common vocabulary (expansion of SE region dictionary to include new variables)
–Served by WCS, WMS, WFS, or SOS
–May or may not be aggregators (move data)
–Separate portal to be developed
•Smart searches / intelligent subsets / plotting
•Like MBARI MOQuA or similar
